Description
This May 2, 1940, photograph captures the facade of the State of California Office Building Number One, located at 915 Capitol Avenue. Its cornerstone was laid to great delight in September 1923 and included a Masonic marching band and speeches by Sacramento Albert Elkus and California Governor Friend Richardson. Also present at the event was 87-year-old Stephen Uren, said to be the only living Mason in California to have been present when the cornerstone of the State Capitol building was laid.
