Photograph article dated November 30, 1961 partially reads, "A man's heart stops... in four minutes he has suffered irreparable brain damage due to the lack of oxygen... a few minutes later he may be dead. In the past, life-saving heart massage could only be applied after the chest cavity had been opened. But a new emergency technique - closed chest heart massage - will be demonstrated tonight to all Los Angeles city school nurses at White Junior High School in Torrance." Photograph caption reads, "Dr. Daniel performs closed chest heart massage on dummy. 'Resusci-Anne' to be used in demonstration for school nurses."
