Description
This image was part of a California State Library photographic history project documenting the daily lives and historical, political, and cultural contributions of California's diverse communities. On June 12, 1999, Long Beach residents donated to the Long Beach Public Library 398 family and personal photographs as part of this ongoing statewide project. Pictured here at far right is the mission revival style Saint Matthew's Catholic Church, located at 680 Temple Avenue. The street is unpaved. A large family residence is visible just to the left of the church. Parked at the curb in the foreground is a two-door automobile. DATE NOTES: Circa 1940. ORIG. IMAGE: 6" x 8" B&W glossy print.
