This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written under photo: " 'Nob Hill' view from Pine & Montgomery Sts. 1877 [crossed out] 1888-1894 [written in pencil]." Written above photo with arrows: "Pine St.," "Stanford Residence," and "St. Mary's Cathedral." The Mark Hopkins mansion behind the Stanford residence is also visible, as is Grace Church on California Street. Steinauer's Hotel can be seen in the foreground. Not much activity is visible on the streets. The photo is torn on the left, and has been mended with tape.
