Description
Cyril Ray in Vintage Tales, on pages 238-239, says Bertall is an anagram for Albert d'Arnoux, who was a prolific illustrator. This book is stuffed with drawings, lovely line drawings depicting almost every aspect of wine and drinking and the French wine country. On almost every one of its 659 pages there is at least one drawing, from charicatures of Le Vigneron, Vendangeurs et Vendangueses, etc, to views of the various chateaux, to cellar and travel scenes, the book is a visual gold mine of wine drawings. There is plenty of text as well.
