View 1 (2012-2076). Rome switchboard, c. 1901. "No. 2" - handwritten on verso -- view 2 (2012-2077). Rome switchboard. "No. 1" - handwritten on verso -- view 3 (2012-2078). Rome Power Plant. Built by Nevada County Electric Power Company on South Yuba River. Operated from 1896 (when completed) to 1910 (when abandoned). Supplied power to Nevada City and Grass Valley. Known as the "Rome" plant after Romulus Riggs Colgate, investor in Power Company. First plant in what became Pacific Gas & Electric.
