Actor George Takei sitting on a bench at the base of the stairs of East West Players, located at 120 N. Judge John Aiso Street. George Hosato Takei (born April 20, 1937), is an Japanese-American actor, most famous for his role as helmsman Hikaru Sulu on the USS Enterprise, in the TV series Star Trek, as well as the first six Star Trek motion pictures. Mr. Takei also serves as chair of the council of governors of East West Players, an Asian American Theatre Organization founded in 1965 to give voice to the Asian Pacific American experience. East West Players is a 240-seat venue of the David Henry Hwang Theater, in Downtown Los Angeles' Little Tokyo district. Photograph dated: October 11, 2005.
