Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Blue Wing Inn in Sonoma, 1937. A two story dilapidated building with a shingled, sloped roof is visible spanning left to right. Five doors and four windows are visible on the first story, while a sidewalk runs underneath the overhanging roof. A fenced balcony spans the entire second story. Four doors and six windows, some broken, are visible on the second story. The building is composed of brick but appears to be worn down, and a dirt road runs in front of the building. A concrete sidewalk, grass, and flowering plants are visible in the foreground towards the left. Another building is visible in the background to the left. Photoprint reads: "Famous Blue Wing Inn, opposite Mission. Built in early 1840's. A rendezvous for early American settlers, also was a hangout of Joaquin Murrietta's. Had a saloon and gambling hall. First hotel in California north of San Francisco. Now occupied by Chamber of Commerce and Blue Wing Museum".
