Description
Photograph of the Los Angeles Electric Railroad plant between 6th and 7th Street on Central Avenue, ca.1892. The plant, which opened on July 4 in 1891, fills the frame from its left edge to its right, a massive brick complex with arched windows. A large, striated smokestack rises from inside the compound to the left. In front, several streetcars are exiting a garage and driving along a post-and-rail fence. Dry grass and shrubs over flat ground fill the rest of the foreground.
