Peter Ueberroth, president of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, receives a doctoral hood from Chancellor Charles B. Runnells before his 1984 commencement speech. The Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool at Pepperdine University would be the site for water games during the Olympics that year.
