Philippine Day took place on Sunday, September 7, 1947, at the California State Fair in Sacramento, CA. This picture captures the coronation ceremony of queen Lillian Omo at the California Fair's Philippine Day Celebration. The couple in the bottom right corner are identified as Lillian's brother George Omo Jr. and Carmen Valdez, who was crowned Miss Visayas. Carmen Valdez also from Oxnard, eventually married her escort, and they had a son named George Omo III.
