Annotations/Markings: Signed "Ryōtan" at left edge followed by one seal "Ryōtan." One additional seal at upper right corner. Inscription reads "富貴有勉強" (Wealth and status require true diligence" (translated by Stephen Addiss).
Medium: Ink on mica paper
Biography/History: Artist also known as 巻菱潭; adopted son of Maki Ryōko.
Acquisition: Addiss-Seo Nanga Collection; on long-term loan to the Lee Institute
Funding: Digitization funded by an Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Leadership Grant (LG 30-02-0260-02) awarded to the University of California, Merced Library.
