Description
Color slide of the exterior of a Minimum Energy Dwelling in Mission Viejo, California in 1976. Two Cordova homes were used in the Minimum Energy Dwelling Project that was organized by Energy Research Development Administration (ERDA), Southern California Gas Company, Mission Viejo Company, and Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann Associates. The Minimum Energy Dwelling house is surrounded by a black wrought iron fence in the photograph. Other than a large solar panel on the roof, the exterior of this Minimum Energy Dwelling house resembles the standard house sitting next to it. They are both single story, have Spanish tile roofing, light-colored stucco siding, dark brown trim, and olive green garage doors. Both of the yards have green lawns, two trees, and orange and yellow flowers planted in flower beds. There is a label on the frame of the slide that reads, "76-006, Frame 012."
