Description
Jesse H. Arnold General Merchandise store, located in the Beach Building on the southeast corner of Plaza Square facing Glassell Street, Orange, California, circa 1879. Image shows view of the building from across the street with a group of seven men, two women and a young child posing on the porch for the photograph. Signage on the building reads "FLOUR FEED" over door to the left, and "JESSE H. ARNOLD / GENERAL MERCHANDISE" above the front entranceway. The Beach Building (also known as the Canfield Building), a wooden two-story building with porch, was constructed in 1874 and stood at 101 S. Glassel. Street. It was the first building to be built south of the plaza. Photographic print B&w 12 x 16.5 cm.
