Copy photograph of the Orange, McPherson & Modena Railroad, which linked the three Southern California communities, 1888. Constructed in 1887, the track was on East Chapman Avenue from the Orange Plaza to McPherson, then along the grape packing house and easward over private property to Modena where a terminus was established at a livery stables on the northwest corner of Center Street and Alameda. A horse-drawn, four-wheel street car ordered from Towle and Brown in Los Angeles, a superintendent- conductor-engineer hired, and the line opened for business on January 28, 1888.
