Description
The Panama-Pacific International Exposition was a world's fair held in San Francisco, California between February 20 and December 4, 1915. Its original purpose was to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, but it was widely seen by citizens as an opportunity to showcase their city's recovery from the 1906 earthquake. This is a side view of the Machinery Palace, which was styled after the Roman baths of Caracalla. Photograph taken April 1914.
