Description
Inital work with a capota (large cape) allows a matador to learn how a particular fighting-bull charges, changes directions, or possibly favors one horn over another as it turns. Bullfighting afictionados assign great importance to the grace and style of the matador's cape work as he confronts a charging bull. In this photograph a "capa de brega" or capote is used to cape the bull as its movements are observed by the matador dressed in a traditional white "traje de luces" (suit of lights). These specially bred bulls have exceptional memories and within a short time learn a matador's repertoire.
