Description
This wagon is identified as one that was built in the Fulkerth blacksmith shop located on the southeast corner of Main and Center Streets. Note that the wheels are constructed of wood and on the rear wheel can be seen the brake. When the wagon driver pulled or pushed on a lever it forced the curved block of wood against the rim of the wheel and stopped it from moving. The brake was applied more to keep an already halted wagon in place rather than to help stop it when in motion. Verso: Wagon built in 1878. Tom Fulkerth's Blacksmith Shop in Turlock. Corner of Center and E. Main. N.O. Hultberg.
