Description
In his reply to Matsunaga's letter of May 28, 1945 (see Dbase #054), Bird explains that he has been the president of Occidental College for 25 years and that it is time to step down. He and his wife will spend some time in Carmel "to find a place in the world where we may help along institutions and ideas that make for a good society for all of us."
