Orange streetcar "Orange Dummy, " Orange, California, ca. 1900. Image shows view of the steam-powered streetcar "Orange Dummy" (a railroad term for the street-locomotive), also known as the Peanut Roaster for its shrill whistle, which was built by the Tolle brothers who bought and operated the line and ran the streetcar beginning in 1896 from Orange to Santa Ana. Dirt street visible in foreground, with palm tree in Plaza visible at background left.
