Description
Begun in 1879, and finally demolished in 1971, Delphy Corners was the first successful winery built in San Diego. It was begun by Jules J. Delphy and his wife Maria from France who were given the land by Delphy’s uncle when they married. They grew grapes on the land and expanded until they owned 2,000 acres and grew avocados and grapes and held the label Buena Vista Vineyard on their wines. Delphy’s corner had fallen into disrepair and much of the land had been sold off when the old buildings were torn down in 1971.
