Description
This ten page representative issue of the Newell Star, dated November 9, 1944 contains articles with headlines such as, "Segregation Indicated for Canadian Japanese," and, "Bumper Crop Harvested in Race With Freeze." Of special note is the story entitled, "Supreme Court Deliberates Korematsu-Endo Test Case," which details the supreme court case challenging the legality of the Japanese American internment. The Newell star was published weekly at the Tule Lake Relocation center. Besides local and National news, it included news about sports, Sports, Church Services, Classified Ads and a section in Japanese.
