Description
Scrapbook belonging to Vincent F. Lovejoy. Includes photographs and doodles documenting the travels of Lovejoy on the USS Pueblo in 1917 and USS Koningin der Nederlanden in 1918-1919 (during World War I). The scapbook also includes Lovejoy family photographs. The family's outings around southern California in the late 1910s. San Diego photos include the San Diego and Arizona railroad, Balboa Park, San Diego High School stadium, USS Grant Hotel, Carnegie Public Library, Santa Fe Depot, Sunset cliffs, Ocean Beach, and La Jolla. The Lovejoy family lived in Coronado. The Coronado photos include the Hotel del Coronado, Tent City, and naval aviation on North Island. Other southern California places included are Benecia, Flynn Springs (El Cajon), and Needles.
