Description
The daughter of English immigrants, Harris grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains at the turn of the century and attended a one-room school. She became a teacher and spent most of her career at San Jose's Oak Grove School, which was a County school when she began teaching. Her interview documents changes in the school system in the 20th century, and experiences teaching children of migrant farm workers.
