Part of MCFL World War I Collection. Typed transcript of a letter from Private R.J. Cruess to his uncle, James Taylor, Treasurer of Monterey County. Writer describes his experiences in Belgium, being captured at Audenarde, and how he saw the Germans react to the retreat and Armistice. This is one of several letters in the collection that were transcribed likely by MCFL library staff at the time.
