During visit of 81 Russian scientists and technician to Scripps Institution of Oceanography recently (June 20), Dr. Melvin N.A. Peterson, at right, of Del Mar, co-principal investigator and manager of the Deep Sea Drilling Project, presents set of "Initial Reports of Deep Sea Drilling Project" to Dr. Alexander Lisitzin, second from left. Dr. Lisitzin, a geochemist with Institute of Oceanology, USSR Academy of Sciences, is chief scientist aboard Russian reserch vessel Mendeleev during ship's current four-months' expedition into Pacific Ocean. Looking on are, from left, Dr. E.M. Suzymumov, deputy chief, Department of Marine Expeditions, USSR Academy of Sciences; Dr. Y.A. Bogdanov, deputy chief scientist of the expedition; and ship's Capt.
