Approximately 14 patrol reports, with related correspondence. Includes reports from administrative years 1948/49, 1919/50, 1950/51, and 1952/53. PATROL OFFICERS: Denehy, M. J.; Stokes, W. M.; Martin, F. J. AREAS PATROLLED: Kaboibus, Kumun, Nindepolye, Wingei, Yangoru. This volume from the East Sepik District, Yangoru, 1949 - 1953 centers around the period of time after World War II. It includes information about damage after the War, the landscape which varied from rivers and mountainsides, and local diet, including fish from the Sepik river, livestock, and crops like sago and yams. The patrol officers aimed to monitor and increase hygeine and health in villages by repairing latrines, and also took routine census information. During July 2018, UC San Diego undergraduate students conducted a preliminary analysis of a few PNG Patrol Report volumes. Students were assigned one volume to analyze at the report level summarizing their findings, identifying key terms, and writing aboutness statements.
