For inSITE97, Miguel Rio Branco presented "Between the Eyes, the Desert/Entre los ojos, el desierto," a triptych of shifting images of the border region's desert landscape, and faces of San Diego and Tijuana residents. The images were set to music and projected onto the wall of a dilapidated room in the ReinCarnation Project in downtown San Diego. Rio Branco wanted the dynamic mirage-like images to reflect the way in which people around the border blend with one another as well as with the surrounding geography. --inSITE97
