Description
Area S, excavated in the 2002 season, focused on a structure composed of three rooms surrounding a courtyard. Excavations in the area collected over 350 ground stone implements, and probes outside the walls discovered thick layers of crushed slag associated with the building. Based on these remains, slag crushing to extract copper was most likely the main function for the structure. Area S was dated to the 9th century BCE.
