Description
AA (Ash layer) -- Ashy layer below surface oiver bedrock. -- Ash below surface, NE chamber -- Thin deposit of soil and ash over the bedrock at the NE chamber of the gate structture. -- The layer probably predates the construction of the gate structure. The crushed slag represented at the layer is similar to that of L100 at the NW chamber and Research Data Curation Program, UC San Diego, La Jolla, 92093-0175 (https://lib.ucsd.edu/rdcp) E-W32, W-45, N-W33, S-46. Locus above: 94, 97 Ceramics. Area stratum IVa Probably leveld and utilized as foundation bed for the gate structure's walls and surfaces. -- Bedrock found only at this location and at the eastern probe, possibly due to leveling of the rock for the the gate's construction purpose. -- appears below the lowest course of the surrounding walls.
