Description
Secondary lysosomes contain a lumen in quick-freeze deep-etch (QF-DE) images resembling etched matrix proteins rather than the honeycomb appearance of acidosomes. Lysosomes often have one or more paracrystalline layers in their lumens. The brush of filaments lining the insides of lysosomal membranes seen in thin sections is not particularly evident in these QF-DE views of fractured lysosomes. TEM taken on 5/20/95 by R. Allen with Zeiss 10A operating at 80kV. Neg. 31,500X. Bar = 0.2µm. A print of the negative was scanned and processed in Photoshop. This image is best used for qualitative analysis.
