Description
Pellicer was born on May 27, 1937 in Valencia, some two hours before the bombardment of that city. Her father, José Pellicer Gandía, was a prominent anarchist revolutionary, and the founder of the Iron Column (Columna de Hierro). He was executed in 1942. While growing up politics and the events of the war were not discussed in her house. Aside from childhood memories, much of her account is based on the histories of relatives or her archival research of the role of anarchists in the Spanish Civil War
