Description
This is a section of methanol-fixed, cryostat-sectioned (10 micrometers thick) adult mouse cervical dorsal root ganglion, labeled with antibodies to peripherin (green) and neurofilament protein NF-M (red) components of the intermediate filament cytoskeleton. Note that small diameter neurons and small-caliber fibers, seen in the lower half of the image, are enriched in peripherin. Large-size neurons and thick-caliber fibers are enriched in NF proteins. Microscope - Zeiss Axioplan I Illumination - Mercury arc lamp Objective - 40X oil/NA 0.9 Intermediate lens between obj and camera - 0.63X Camera - Axiocam MRM CCD Filters: 1.
