Description
Lluis Bursó was born during the postwar. Lluis relates that during the Civil War, his mother's family had connections with the Anarchists and his father's family had ties with the Falange. He discusses his educational upbringing and underlines the pervasive silence maintained in his household. Lluis speaks about his politicization during the late-1960s and 1970s. He tells of his studies at an elite theater school in Barcelona, where he was introduced to the Living Theater. Lluis narrates his participation in the Frente de Liberación Popular (Popular Liberation Front), the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (National Labor Confederation, CNT), and other anti- Francoist workers movements. He details his participation in dissident theater productions, as well as in political protest movements. Lluis recounts being judged by the Tribunal de Orden Público (Tribunal of Public Order). He recalls being sentenced to five years in jail, of which he completed two years between 1974 and 1976 before being released. Lluis provides a thorough account of life in prison, noting the physical and psychological torture to which prisoners were subjected. He describes the system of communication developed between prisoners who were held in solitary confinement.
