Description
Oda Aument seated in a chair with her hands in her lap. She wears an overcoat, hat, and gloves. She smiles warmly and looks to the left. Oda Aument was the niece of mining engineer Jacob Charles Denton. Denton was murdered by Louise Peete in 1920, a crime for which Peete received a sentencing of life in prison in 1921. Aument aided in this sentencing with her particularly damning testimony. Reported on in "Denton Heiress to Take Stand: Due to Testify Tomorrow in Trial of Mrs. Peete" Los Angeles Times, 23 Jan. 1921: I10 and in "Woman's Testimony Hits Hardest at Mrs. Peete: Mrs. Aument State's Star Witness of Day at the Murder Trial; Bloody Rope to be Shown Today," Los Angeles Times, 25 Jan. 1921: II1.
