Description
Original trade card forms part of: Collection no. 311, History & Special Collections for the Sciences, Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, UCLA. Front of card depicts little girl brings a bottle to her grandmother who is standing on the terrace near pictorial river shore. The citation on the pictures says: “Granma, here’s a bottle of Dr. Jones’ Ta’xicum Tonic, to make you well.” Additional text from back of card: Dr. Jones' Taraxacum Tonic A Sure Cure for Dyspepsia, Indigestion or any Weakness caused by Disease, Exhaustive Mental or Physical Labor, or any Indiscretion. The Taraxacum Tonic is composed entirely of vegetables and is free from Mercury, Aloes, Opium and every other deleterious substance. Distinguished Physicians and Surgeons have used it with entire satisfaction... It acts gently but efficiently on the Bowels, Liver, Spleen and Kidneys, and thus carries off the effete and poisonous matter which otherwise proves injurious to the patient. The Taraxacum Tonic is not an alcoholic stimulant, but a genuine pure medicine, made with care from Sound Roots and Herbs, which are known to have specific effect upon the above named organs, in any abnormal condition, and it thus supplies a widely felt want in the radical cure of Dyspepsia and its kindred diseases, such as Costiveness, Pain in the Stomach, Headache, Dizziness, Sleeplessness, Sick Stomach, &c...
