This photograph, reversed, appears in the newspaper Gobles News, Gobles, Michigan, March 22, 1928, with the caption: Hoover’s sister. Here is Mary Van Ness Leavitt of Santa Monica, Cal., sister of Herbert Hoover, secretary of commerce and a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. She calls her distinguished brother “Bert.”, and in the Mason City Globe Gazette, Mason City, Iowa, March 8, 1928.
