Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Multiple agricultural prizes are distributed to cities within the County. Photograph appears with the article, "Huge Throng Visits Show," Los Angeles Times, 17 Sep 1934: 4. Patty and Dorothy stand elevated over the water lift with a stuffed donkey between them. Patty holds the donkey's bridle while Dorothy smiles at the camera holding a bunch of grapes. Text from negative sleeve: LOS ANGELES COUNTY FAIR, 1934 Text from newspaper caption: Chino shows a replica of a crude, old-time water lift operated by burro power at the Pomona exposition. The wheel is fitted with "buckets" made from hollowed out tree limbs which dip water from the stream and pour it into an irrigation ditch as the wheel turns. Dorothy Marshal, left, and Patty Clark apparently have taken a fancy to the "power plant".
