The adobe was very close to the San Gabriel Mission (San Gabriel Arcangel). In the painting, the elderly woman wears a cross necklace along with what appears to be a religious hood or veil. The painting is signed, "M.Farrell" in the upper left hand corner. The frame is ornate.
