Dona Vigare was perhaps one of past residents of the adobe. The adobe was very close to the San Gabriel Mission (San Gabriel Arcangel). In the painting, the elderly woman wears a cross necklace along with what appears to be a religious hood or veil. The painting is signed, "M.Farrell" in the upper left hand corner. The frame is ornate.
