The hermit described is Leroy Walsh, or "Tuan" as he is known by, which means Lord and Master. He denies being the assailant.
Mr. Gallagher sports a bandage wrapped around his head and leans forward in conversation between his mother and Mr. Parsons, who also has a bandage over one eye.

Text from newspaper caption: Complaining a hermit known as Tuan assaulted them when they parked their automobile near his residence, James Gallagher, center, and F. C. Parsons, right, yesterday obtained a complaint charging assault against Tuan. Gallagher's mother, Rev. Lura Gallagher, appeared with the two at the District Attorney's office.
