Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Story related to photograph appears with the article, "New Dollar Club Raided," Los Angeles Times, 15 Dec 1935: A7. Building custodian and manager A. J. Gahring and cashier Joe L. White were booked during the raid. The club operated an own-your-home proposition where a $1 deposit was put down and was supposed to increase so much so as the person would be able to buy their own home. More than fifty persons were in the establishment at the time of the raid. District Attorney John MacDonald takes notes at the raid site with manager Gahring nearby and several other unidentified men. Handwritten on negative: Dist. Atty. Inves. John MacDowell Mgr. A. J.
