Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Otto Pease would have been about 16 or 17 in 1933. He looks younger than that in this photograph. Photograph, from left to right, of Harry Lawrence and Otto Pease standing over a long washbasin with faucets while washing clothes. Harry Lawrence holds an article of clothing to a washboard while looking out-of-frame to the left. Otto Pease casts his glance downwards as he stands next to Harry at the washbasin and assists him by holding the washboard. In front of them, a makeshift sink runs horizontally across the photograph. The washbasin is constructed out of wood and a single metal pipe with faucets hovers over the washbasin. A pile of clothes rests on the washbasin in front of the two boys. Behind them, two large tents are pitched behind a small outcrop of trees.
