Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. A couple members of the West, Schmitz and Scullin camping party stand over a folding table as they wash dishes. The man on the left holds a wash rag in his hands to clean an object; he faces right. The man standing on the right side of the table is in profile and faces left. A pipe hangs from his mouth and he holds a plate over a bucket that sits on the table. Behind the table, a man leans against the rear fender of a car parked in the background. In the lower right corner, Conrad Scullin sits on the ground with another man sitting to his right. A stovepipe stands in the foreground at left. A car (partial view) is parked in the background with the driver's side facing the camera. Text from negative sleeve: 368. Convict Lake, 1918. Cannot make out who these persons are in these 3 small negatives. But in the party were Al Schmitz, Harry Schmitz, Edward Steinberg, Jim Scullin, Scullin's boy and a man named Kirk, a friend of Scullin. H.H.West. 3 negatives.
