Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the W. C. Stuart residence at 1201 Orange Grove Avenue in Pasadena as viewed from the northeast. The house was built in 1895 and designed by Frederick L. Roehrig in the Mission style. It is no longer standing. The residence sits back from the street. It has a 3-story tower covered in ivy. Two pillars with lanterns stand on each side of the driveway. Text from negative sleeve: 405. Devils Gate, 1899. Charlie Rucher, Nella West, Louise Ambrose and I go to Devils Gate with a livery rug, thru Pasadena, then back home after lunch thru Lamanda Park and Baldwin's Ranch. We drove down Orange Grove Ave., Pasadena. Two negatives of mansions on Orange Grove. The rig, and L to R: Nella West and Chas Rucher in rear seat. Louise Ambrose in front. 3 negatives.
