Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. The photograph is a bit blurry, so only Independence (Inda) Stevens is visible at the far right and H. H. West is at his left. H. H. West stands with a group in front of a wagon. The cart is piled with supplies and there is an American flag hanging off of the end. All of the people except for the little girl wear hats. There are trees behind them. Text from negative sleeve: 634. East. Red Oak, Iowa. Meads. September 1900. At Lewis Lake. In the summer of 1900 I took mother east for a trip. We stopped at Red Oak, Iowa, went up to Elliott, and thence out to Mead's farm 7 miles east of Elliott. While at Meads, Will Mead got up a party to go to Lewis Lake, a few miles north of their farm. Here is the rig, and the party. I cannot recall all who were along but there was Will Biddick, Fannie Biddick, Walter Biddick, Grace Biddick, Emma Manker, India [sic] Stevens, Sena Burris, Maggie Burris, H. H. West, Will Mead. 3 films.
