A poor photograph of H. H. West crouching in the watermelon patch at Nichols Ranch and posing with watermelon. A dark shadow at center obscures H. H. West as it extends from the middle of the image towards the upper right corner. Part of H. H. West is visible at center holding a watermelon while crouched in the watermelon patch. The patch extends across the foreground. Another watermelon sits on the ground to the right of H. H. Low trees and shrubbery stand behind H. H. at center. In the distance at left, the ranch house stands and someone sits on the front porch.
