Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Barn with rutted dirt road running in front of it. There is a horse and buggy at the left. The street is lined with trees. There is a fence next to the barn. By 1900 H. H. West and other members of his family lived in Los Angeles. Text from negative sleeve: 780. East. Red Oak, Iowa. 1900. The Whittier barn - might have been Whitaker. There was a boy. Seems to me his name was Thad Whitaker. The trees at the left are alongside the walk in front of our old place, and Whitaker's house was up the street one block, across the street from our place. Their barn at rear of their lot was almost opposite the extreme east end of our yard, and direcelty [sic] across the street from Austin's house.
