Photograph of a few people standing along a trail and peering over the side of a mountain near the summit of Mt. Tamalpais. The visitors to Mt. Tamalpais stand in the near distance at center and face towards the left as they gaze over the side of the mountain. At their backs and to the right, a large boulder stands and hovers over them. The trail they stand on curves from the lower right corner, around the rock and then back to the right where it disappears behind the boulder. In the far distance, a peninsula extends out towards the water. A wide, white band stretches vertically along the left edge of the image.
Text from negative sleeve: 972. Mt Tamalpais. About 1900. 4 scenes at summit. No.1 with Mertie Whitaker. 2 with Nella West. 3 Head rock. 4 Nella West and Mertie Whitaker. 4 negatives.
