Guy West was H. H. West's brother.
Guy West stands in front of a block destroyed by the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. The ruins are mostly made up of rubble. At the right, there are the walls of a burnt building. The structure at the left is a chimney with fireplace mantels attached to it, presumably from an apartment building that collapsed around it. There are fences behind, and smoke billows throughout the sky. West wears a flat hat and a bow tie. He has his hands on his hips.
Text from negative sleeve: 979. San Francisco Earthquake, April 1906. Two pictures of Guy West in the street. Ruins were still smoking. 2 negatives.
