Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Wilf Cline getting out of the backseat of H. H. West's Buick that is parked along Main Street in Red Bluff (in Tehama County), where they stop during their trip to Trinity County. The Buick (partial view) is viewed from the rear and the side; it faces to the right as it sits parked along a curb. The front of the car extends beyond the right edge of the image. Wilf Cline swings a leg over the side of the car as he appears to exit the vehicle. He turns his head to look back towards the camera. Camping gear is rigged to the back of the vehicle. In the background, the Tremont Hotel stands on the far side of the street behind H. H. West's Buick. The hotel stands three-stories tall. Columns that are two-stories tall stand across the front of the hotel. Low rails run across the second and third floors. A porte-cochere extends out from the front of the hotel and towards the street. Signage on the porte-cochere reads, "TREMONT HOTEL." A single-story building at left stands. Signage for this building reads, "REAL ESTATE." To the right of the hotel, another building of similar height to the hotel stands. Text from negative sleeve: 1009. Trinity Co. trip. 1917. Red Bluff. Wilfrid Cline Jr in my Buick, as we traveled. 2 films
